Day 1: Drive to Arba Minch
In the morning after having a breakfast you will drive to Arba Minch (510Km apprx. 8-9h). You will pass thourgh the different ethnic groups of the southern Ethiopia such as Oromo, Gurage, Silite, Hadiya, Kembata, and Wolayta, eventually you can stop & visit one village. You will have lunch at Wolayta Sodo (325 Km from Addis).
Continue your drive to Dorze people (are famous for their beehive shaped huts made of Bamboo leaves and weaving culture). On arrival check in to lodge. Take some break and a local guide will take you to a compound of the Dorze people to visit their house and see their life style. The house wife will show you how a kind of flour is prepared from the stem of the enset tree (false banana) which is fermented and used to prepare porridge and sour flat bread. Make a walk in the mountains, passing the Dorze settlements, and visit a weaving and a potter’s cooperation. And visit the colorfull market in Dorze town (if you travel on Monday/Thursday).
Overnight stay in Dorze lodge (simple bungalows built in Dorze style with magnificent view over the Rift Valley. On your request the lodge can organize a campfire, and eventually a cultural evening with life music and dance of the Dorze people (not included in the tour price).
Overngiht stay in Paradise Lodge (has best location in Africa has panoramic view to Lake Abaya, Chamo and Nech Sar park. Best lodge with swimming pool and children playing ground).
Day 2: Boat trip on Lake Chamo and walk in Nech Sar national park
After a brekfast you will make a boat trip on Lake Chamo where you will see the crocodile market. One can spot many hippos and the world’s most spectacular concentrations of Giant Crocodiles. (It is locally called as the crocodile market) the water birds are great the scenery is truly unforgettable. Fishing for Nile perch and many other species by locals on their traditional boat is by far the best in the country. You will also watch various low land water birds like the African Fish Eagle, Great white pelicans, egrets, etc.
Hereafter the boat will bring you to the other side of the lake where you enter Nech Sar National Park for a walk of app. 3 hours on the savannah plain where you can watch Burchell’s zebra’s, different bird species, baboons and probably also gazelle and Swayne’s hartebeest.
You will have lunch in Arba Minch. In the afternoon you will have free leisure time. Check in to lodge. Overngiht stay in Paradise Lodge.
Day 3: Back to Addis Ababa
You will have an early breakfast and a drive will take you back to Addis Ababa (565Km asphalt 8-9h). En route visit Tiya Stelae (a UNESCO world heritage site). Recent excavations at Tiya revealed that the stone mark the mass graves of males and females who died when they were between 18 and 30 years of age and were laid to rest in a fetal position. The field has some 45 stones of up to 2m in height which are nearly all engraved with swords, plain circles and enset like leaves.
You will arrive late in the afternoon in Addis Ababa, where you will do last minute shopping and have last farwell dinner. Then depending on your flight time transfered to the airport.
Day 3: Day trip to Konso (90 Km from Arba Minch)
After having a buffeet breakfast you will drive to Konso (90 km. appr.1.5 h.). The Konso people who are known for their religious traditions, waga sculptures, traditional villages and efficient rock terracing. You will have lunch at Kanta lodge. Late in the afternoon drive back to Arba Minch for overnight stay. Overnight stay in Paradise lodge.
- Even you can take a flight to Arab Minch & vice versa Day 1 & 3, where we will arrange car rent from Araba Minch for the excursion.
